Check out this new lyric video that Tara put together for In the Vapor from our first EP! I’m really happy with how this song turned out. Like most of my best lyrics, they spilled out in about 20 minutes, inspired by all the craziness of 2020. “In the Vapor” is obviously a reference to the virus, but the song packs in references to many of the major issues today. See if you can catch them all - there are some subtle ones, and true to form these include double and even triple entendres.
The Belldiver crew did an awesome job pulling the full song together in three weeks from initial idea to mastered track, never having played it together live. Like all of our releases this past year, we recorded it remotely by trading stems back and forth online. Serendipitously, I accidentally imported Rich’s Hammond organ stem file a few seconds late in the time grid and it resulted in a haunting feeling at the start of the song. At first I thought he intentionally wrote the part that way and that he was a musical genius, but then we had a good laugh. Still, we kept it that way because it’s super cool. -Jason
