When the cat’s away...

Aaron was on tour with Scout Shannon and Willing Deceivers when we picked up a last-minute show at Austin’s iconic Cactus Cafe with our friends in Rye Mountain Revelry. Jason bought a loop pedal on Craigslist for $80 the day before and worked up a bit of a one-man-band-acoustic-thing for the first half of the set, then Tara and Barrett came up to play through a few tunes. This is Jason and Tara playing a stripped-down version of our song “Bottomless Cup” with a four-part rhythm loop that Jason built on the fly. The song is about a guy who has been working up the courage to ask out the waitress at a diner that he frequents.

RAVERSIDE!

Belldiver Central is on Riverside Drive in Austin and a running joke was that we should have a party called “Raverside” at some point, complete with “sharks with fikkin’ laser beams on their heads” in the pool. Well, yesterday we finally made it happen (sadly, minus the sharks).

We asked our friend Tara to join us for the show just for fun but it quickly became clear that she belonged in the band. She had only been playing the songs for a week at this point.

We shared the deck/stage with friends in Rye Mountain Revelry and Beth Lee with special guest Chris Duarte. Good times had by all, here’s a video of our tune “Someday”.
