In the Vapor

Breeding in the space between our conscious and our actions is a need to be heard and be seen, align to different factions. Trigger happy to feel alive – it’s dangerous, that 45. Going viral in the machine, for this divide, there’s no vaccine. Easy come, easy go. Where we land, no one knows. We can blame the victim, or we can take control. Words spread like wildfire at times like these, floating in the vapor. Like a virus passing through the breeze, shouldn’t we be safer? What we have left isn’t right, we’ve built a wall straight through the aisle. We’ve lost our way, we’ve lost our sight. No principles in the rank and file. We’re in a war of the words – watch out, they say the aliens are coming. When it comes to choice, there’s a third, it’s not black or white, but they need to keep you running.

Drive Another Day

It's a special kind of freedom, setting out on the open road. It gives us each a reason to search for purpose in where to go. Mile after mile, one arm tanning a bit deeper, wind messing hair. As we drive to the east, the salt slowly leaves the breeze; you can taste the change in the air. Pressure and time shape every element on this earth. Through millions of years they’ve made mountains collide, now it’s our time to prove our worth. In the greater scheme of things we are small but of consequence; we all serve a purpose, we play our part. Let's live our best life before our bones too feed the dirt, a new start. Through the Valley of the Fire, to the levy on the cape. Flooded by the beauty of this place. From the snow across the peaks feeding streams of Tennessee. We live to drive, drive another day. This land we call home, sets us free to be brave. As the sights fly on by, I think of the long history that pressure and time have shaped. I owe so much to you, we’re so fortunate to share stories old and new. Secrets never told. On this road to anywhere, these are memories that we’ll always hold, forever. Through the Valley of the Fire, to the levy on the cape. Flooded by the beauty of this place. From the snow across the peaks feeding streams of Tennessee. We live to drive, drive another day.

Fault Lines

When did all the love lines turn into fault lines between us? When did our endearing quirks turn into points to pick and fuss? And so it’s come to this. We’ve sowed a field of land mines scattered far and wide, across a great divide. Imperfections turned to fault lines, eating at us from deep inside. It always starts so care free, blinded by the new Things only end if badly, and it feels like this is our queue And so it’s come to this We’ve sowed a field of land mines Scattered far and wide, across a great divide Imperfections turned to fault lines Eating at us from deep inside It’s a shame we let dark feelings fester for so long We could turn around these demons, if only we were strong But this has worn me out We’ve sowed a field of land mines scattered far and wide, across a great divide. Imperfections turned to fault lines, eating at us from deep inside. Let’s hold on tight, this will hurt tonight, I know. Can’t stop the pain. Can’t stop it beating in our hearts, driving us insane. Can’t stop these thoughts, running through our minds, from hitting the darkest depths of our fault lines.

Straight Line to Austin

I tumbled through life, like a weed ‘til I rolled into town, planted my seed. Over half my days, in this place, both outside and in we’ve seen lots of change. We’ve grown up together, taking it day by day, It’s a straight line to Austin, twenty-four more to go. It’s true you’ve changed, but you’re still the same place I love. You’re still home anyway. From easy days, getting high To skyscrapers on the rise From dirt country roads to Liberty Lunches To thousands of brakes, gathered in bunches Things can be different, but the same in different ways. It’s a straight line to Austin, twenty-four more to go. It’s true you’ve changed, but you’re still the same place I love. You’re still home anyway. Over the years you’ve been patient as we’ve made memories every day. Through the trials and tribulations and the friends lost along the way. I look West and lament possibilities. But the best we can do is protect their legacies. From summering in Barton Springs to all four seasons in a week. From 35 to the Loop, a blueberry in tomato soup. Let’s love one another, pne city, one family. It’s a straight line to Austin, twenty-four more to go. It’s true you’ve changed, but you’re still the same place I love. You’re still home anyway.

Last Calls

Last calls for alcohol. In we’d walk and out we’d crawl. We lived for center stage. You lost it all at seventeen, gad to be the party queen. Your life is just a haze. We fall one by one. But not you, you live to run, You’re not gonna change, you’re never gonna change. We make a point to find a purpose, put an end to all that hurts us, with no apologies Crack of dawn, an honest wage, we’ve all got our bills to pay. Yeah, big responsibilities. We fall one by one But not you, you live to run You’re not gonna change You’re never gonna change. We fall one by one. But not you, you live to run, You’re not gonna change, you’re never gonna change.
